Heavy snowfall and icy conditions have caused flight disruptions (including delays and cancelations) at Manchester Airport (MAN), Belfast International Airport (BFS), and Stornoway Airport (SYY), and road closures across the UK, according to reports on Tuesday, January 22. Dozens of traffic accidents have also been reported across affected areas of Scotland. Snow has notably fallen in Glasgow, Cumbria, Teesdale, and London.
The Met Office issued yellow warnings for ice for much of the UK from 16:00 (local time) on Tuesday through 11:00 on Wednesday, January 23. Ice is forecast to form on surfaces in areas under the weather warning from Tuesday night into Wednesday and may result in further transportation disruptions.
Individuals in the UK are advised to monitor local weather reports, prepare for transportation disruptions (including road closures and flight delays and cancelations), and confirm flight reservations.
