The National Weather Service (NWS) issued flood watches and warnings in southern California due to the potential for heavy rains, flash floods, and severe flooding through Thursday, February 14. Officials indicate rainfall totals will range from 5-10 cm (2-4 in) in much of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties, with localized totals ranging from 15-25 cm (6-10 in). Localized transportation disruptions, including road closures, are possible in southern California over the coming days.
Individuals present in the affected areas are advised to follow all instructions as issued by local authorities and anticipate residual transportation disruptions. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock an adult over.
