The Bank of Valletta, which accounts for almost half of Malta's banking transaction, had to shutdown all its operations on Wednesday, February 13, due to a cyberattack. All its branches have been closed throughout the island, along with its ATMs, and its website has been disabled. Credit cart payments were also disrupted. As of Thursday, February 14, there is no indication of when operations will resume.
Individuals in Malta are advised to anticipate disruptions in cash supply and banking transactions, and contact the bank for more information.
