A small plane (DC-3 aircraft, operated by Laser Aéreo) en route from San José del Guaviare to Villavicencio crashed in central Colombia on Saturday, March 9, killing all 12 passengers on board. The plane reportedly came down approximately 89 km (55 mi) southeast of Villavicencio. According to local reports, the mayor of Taraira, Doris Villegas, was among the passengers. It is currently unclear what caused the crash and an investigation is underway.
