According to the Secretary of Civil Protection of Veracruz state, more than 2000 people in and around the communities of San Juan del Monte and La Lobera (Las Vigas municipality) have been forced to evacuate as of Tuesday, March 12, due to an ongoing wildfire. The fire reportedly began at roughly 7:30 (local time) on Monday, March 11, and has quickly spread to over 200 hectares (500 acres). Further spread of the fire and additional evacuations are to be expected over the coming hours and days.
