Private civil society groups have been granted permission by the Cuban government to hold a rally in Havana on Sunday, April 7. The rally, which is in support of animal rights, will start in the Plaza of the Revolution area. According to media reports, this is one of the first events in decades hosted by a group that is not directly affiliated with the Communist party or the government. A heightened police presence and localized traffic disruptions are expected along the march route.
Individuals in Havana are advised to monitor developments to the situation, allow additional time to travel, and avoid all demonstrations as a precaution.
