Dozens of far-right activists rallied outside of the Tourist Hotel in Kyiv on Thursday, April 11, to protest the upcoming European Lesbian Conference which will be held at the hotel. The conference will run from Friday, April 12, through Sunday, April 14, and demonstrations by ultra-right groups are likely during the events. On Thursday night, protesters attempted to break a security cordon around the hotel, throwing tear gas at guards and bricks through windows. Heightened security measures are expected around the conference and further clashes between far-right groups and police officers cannot be ruled out.
Individuals in Kyiv are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to instructions issued by the local authorities.
