As of 14:30 (local time) on Friday, April 12, Ottawa's ByWard Market and nearby buildings remained evacuated amid an ongoing fire atop a restaurant at 35 William Street. The fire began at roughly 11:30 and has since spread to adjacent buildings. Firefighters have erected roadblocks in the vicinity of the fire and first responders remain at the scene. No injuries have been reported.

A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of 35 William Street. Residual delays and disruptions are likely.
