Hundreds of taxi drivers are expected to demonstrate across three Dutch cities on Tuesday, April 23. Organizers have called for a rolling go-slow protest beginning in Amsterdam and Rotterdam; participants will then proceed to the Hague to demand new regulations on app-based ride-sharing companies. Taxi drivers are then expected to rally at Malieveld Park in the Hague. Significant transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of the demonstrations.
Similar protests took place on February 19 and more recently on April 18. Participants demonstrated to denounce perceived regulation discrepancies between authorized taxi drivers and independent drivers for app-based ride-sharing companies.
Individuals in Netherlands are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, prepare for traffic disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
