Main roads subject to the closure include Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, Khao San Road, Somdet Phra Pin Klao Road and bridge, Sanam Chai Road, Maha Rat Road, and Phra Sumen Road. A heightened security presence and significant transportation disruptions are expected in the area during the rehearsal. Residual traffic delays and congestion are likely in the hours following the event.
Maha Vajiralongkorm, better known as King Rama X, will hold a coronation ceremony on May 4 with related festivities and events being held on May 5-6. This will be the first coronation ceremony held in Thailand since 1950. King Bhumibol, the father of Rama X, reigned from 1950 until his death in 2016 and was well regarded in Thailand.
Individuals in Bangkok are advised to adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate a heightened security presence and significant transportation disruptions in the vicinity of Rttanakosin Island, and make alternate arrangements or allow for additional time to reach their destinations.
