Syrian air defenses reportedly intercepted an Israeli missile attack on the T-4 (Tiyas) Airbase (Homs province) on Sunday, June 2. A Syrian military source reported that two people were killed and that two others were wounded in the attack which hit an ammunition warehouse, among other buildings and materiel. The attack on T-4 (Tiyas) Airbase comes after Syria's Ministry of Defense reported multiple suspected Israeli airstrikes near Damascus and in Quneitra province early (local time) on Sunday.

Similar Israeli airstrikes are possible in Syria over the coming hours and days. Retaliatory Syrian strikes targeting Israel cannot be ruled out.

The June 2 Israeli airstrikes were launched after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that at least two rockets were fired from Syria into northern Israel on June 1.

Over the past year and a half, the Israeli military has struck more than 200 targets in Syria, many of which have been arms depots and military facilities allegedly receiving arms and fighters from Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah group.

Due to extremely poor security conditions, Western governments generally advise against all travel to Syria, with some banning travel to the country. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to any travel to Syria.
