Indonesian authorities reported an attempted suicide bombing in Sukoharjo (Central Java province) on Tuesday, June 4. According to the report, a man attempted to detonate low-grade explosives outside a police station. The suspect was wounded in the attack and has been detained. A heightened security presence is possible in the coming hours and days across Indonesia as the country celebrates Hari Raya Idul Fitri, also known as Eid al-Fitr.

Context

Indonesia will observe the end of Ramadan, or Puasa, with Hari Raya Idul Fitri celebrations. Bombings and attacks in Surabaya (East Java province) killed around 30 people in 2018.
