On Monday, June 10, the Met Office issued a series of weather warnings for heavy rain throughout England and Wales, which is set to remain in effect through Thursday, June 13. An estimated 31 flood alerts have been issued across the country. Southern and Thameslink commuter trains are expected to experience considerable delays. The extreme weather has also produced several accidents and the discovery of two sinkholes, leading to the closure of the M25 road in Sevenoaks (Kent; England) in both directions until further notice. Lingering transportation disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are likely until at least June 13.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate power, telecommunication, and transportation disruptions, including adverse driving conditions and road closures, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult.
