Bosnia and Herzegovina Alerte de sécurité

Hundreds protest recent influx of migrants and perceived elevated security and health risks in Bihać June 16; similar demonstrations possible over the coming days and weeks

TIMEFRAME expected from 16/6/2019, 12h00 until 23/6/2019, 11h59 (Europe/Sarajevo). COUNTRY/REGION Bihac

Hundreds of people protested the recent influx of migrants in Bihać on Sunday, June 16, calling on the national government to take steps to accommodate migrants elsewhere. Demonstrators cited insufficient shelter for thousands of migrants in Bihać and neighboring Velika Kladuša as a source of mounting health and security risks.

Related protests are possible in the area over the coming days and weeks amid a heightened security presence. Localized traffic disruptions are to be expected around demonstration sites.

Individuals in Bihać are advised to monitor developments, avoid protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
