At least two suspected rockets landed on the grounds of the Iraqi Drilling Company in Burjisiya near Basra on the morning (local time) of Wednesday, June 19. The incident occurred at approximately 03:50. According to initial reports, at least three Iraqi nationals were wounded in the blasts. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Similar incidents are possible in the area over the near term.


According to local sources, Iranian-backed militias are suspected of being responsible for firing the rockets. The incident occurred after the US recently announced plans to deploy an additional 1000 soldiers into the region and accused Iran of being involved in attacks targeting two tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
