Heightened security measures have been reported on Friday, June 28 at Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) following the June 27 attacks in Tunis. Only travelers with passports and flight tickets are allowed inside the airport, and increased security screening has been implemented outside TUN.
Further increased security measures are expected in TUN over the coming days.
A double suicide bombing attacks against police facilities hit the capital Tunis on June 27, killing one policeman and wounding eight others. The first attack targeted a police patrol near Rue Charles de Gaulle, while the second attack occurred at the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit building, located in the El Gorjani district. The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for the two attacks.
Individuals traveling to or from TUN are advised to allow extra time to reach their destinations and follow instructions issued by the local authorities.
