Unconfirmed reports indicate a suicide bombing has taken place in the Manihila area of Tunis on the evening (local time) of Tuesday, July 2. The bombing reportedly took place after police attempted to detain the suspect. No casualties were immediately reported.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected in Tunis over the coming hours.

Context

Two suicide bombings were reported in Tunis on June 27. The Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility for the attacks, in which one police officer was killed and eight others were wounded.
