A truck accident reportedly left 12 people dead in Giza province on Tuesday, July 9. According to state-run media, a truck carrying 17 workers collided with another as it headed to 6th of October City.
Similar deadly traffic accidents are possible over the near term.
Though the number of road traffic deaths per 100,000 people has decreased in Egypt in recent years, deadly road accidents are still common in the country. In 2018, road accidents killed 3087 people and injured 12,000 others in Egypt, according to Egyptian statistics authorities, and resulted in USD 1.8 billion in economic losses, according to the WHO.
Individuals in Egypt are advised to be observant when driving, take necessary safety precautions, and adhere to all driving laws and regulations.
