Panamanian teachers are slated to go on strike march on Friday, July 12, with the aim of demanding USD 32 million in delayed salaries, improved schools, and increased security for teachers and students. The associated march in Panama City will begin at 14:00 (local time) at Escuela República de Venezuela, from which protesters will proceed to Palacio de las Garzas.
Marches in other metropolitan areas are possible.
Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are expected in the vicinity of the protests.
Individuals in Panama, and particularly Panama City, are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution, monitor the situation, allow ample travel time, and obey instructions issued by the local authorities.
