The World Health Organization (WHO) added the UAE to the list of countries requiring a yellow fever vaccination certificate as of July 1, 2019. A certificate is required for all travelers over one year of age traveling from countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission.
Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne disease endemic to large parts of sub-Saharan Africa and South America. Symptoms include fever, chills, muscle and back pain, vomiting, headaches, and, in more serious cases, hemorrhaging and organ failure. A vaccine provides lifelong immunity and should be administered at least ten days prior to travel to be fully effective.
Individuals traveling to the UAE are advised to confirm entry requirements, ensure proper documentation of vaccine certification, and consult their doctor regarding vaccination options.
