Public servants are on strike across the country as of Tuesday, July 17, to denounce recent austerity measures included in the 2019 fiscal budget. Work stoppages were reported in several administrations. This includes the Finance Department in Baabda and the Health, Agriculture, Industry, and Health administrations in Saida, as well as disruptions in telecommunication services in Halba and Akkar.
Other service disruptions, including longer wait times, are likely across the country. Associated demonstrations are also possible.
Individuals in Lebanon, including in Beirut, are advised to monitor the situation and anticipate transportation and business disruptions.
