The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) issued a blue typhoon warning, the lowest of four warnings, on Wednesday, July 18, and reconfirmed the warning on Thursday morning (local time), July 18, due to the passing of Tropical Storm Danas. Rainfall of 5-9 cm (2-3.5 in) is expected for coastal China, particularly Guangdong, Fujian, and Zhejiang provinces. Transportation disruptions are possible; power outages cannot be ruled out. As of 08:00 (local time) on Thursday, the storm was located 570 km (354 mi) southeast of Fuzhou (Fujian province) and moving north.
A second storm is also moving north from the northwest coast of the Philippines and may bring rain to Fujian and Zhejiang on Saturday, July 20, or Sunday, July 21.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports and anticipate heavy rain and associated power and transportation disruptions.
