Heavy rains have prompted evacuations in the Irkutsk region on Sunday, July 28. An estimated 1000 people have been evacuated in the region, including 200 people in Tulun. Floods reached between 16 mm (0.5 in) and 150 mm (6 in) in 11 districts. Flooding may also continue, as heavy rains and thunderstorms are forecast for Monday, July 29.
Transportation disruptions should be expected over the next several days.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions prior to setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. It is important to note that that walking or driving through floodwaters can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
