Several areas in Taiwan are expected to receive heavy rain and strong winds on Thursday, August 8, and Friday, August 9, as Tropical Storm Lekima is forecast to move to the north and north-eastern parts of the country. According to current predictions, heavy rain and strong winds will hit the Yilan, Hualien, and Hsinchu counties, as well as the cities of Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, and Keelung.
Flooding, landslides, power outages, and transportation disruptions, including train delays and road closures, are possible in the affected areas over the coming days.
Individuals in areas forecast to be affected by the storm are advised to monitor local weather reports, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products
