Rural women workers are due to hold the Daisies March and associated protests in Brasilia on Tuesday, August 13, and on Wednesday, August 14. The workers seek to demand popular sovereignty, democracy, justice, equality and freedom from violence. Groups will gather at the City Park Exhibition Pavilion and demonstrations are expected in surrounding areas on both days.
On Tuesday, participants will gather at the Pavilion for a plenary session at 09:00 (local time), then a gathering in the surrounding park at 14:00.
An estimated 100,000 women are expected to participate.
Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence is likely in the vicinity of the events and protests.
Individuals in Brasilia are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all public demonstrations as a precaution, anticipate localized disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
