The Million Moments for Democracy student opposition group has called for countrywide protests on Wednesday, August 21, on the anniversary of the Prague Spring to demand the resignation of several senior government officials including Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. In Prague, participants are due to gather at 18:00 (local time) at Wenceslas Square and then march to Hradčanské Square. Organizers have also arranged several other commemorative events and demonstrations in other major cities, including in Brno and Plzeň.
A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected near all protest sites.
Individuals in Czech Republic are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and anticipate a heightened security presence and localized business and transportation disruptions around protest sites.
