A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated near a market in al-Musayib (Babil province) on Friday, August 23, wounding dozens of civilians. Officials indicate that a bomb attached to a motorcycle exploded near a central market, resulting in at least 40 casualties. Security forces have cordoned off the scene of the incident; no group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
