The José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport (GYE) in Guayaquil will close temporarily each weekend between Saturday, August 31, and Monday, September 23, due to maintenance works on the runway. GYE will close on Saturdays at 00:00 (local time) and reopen the following Monday at 08:00. Authorities have said that passengers traveling to or from San Cristóbal Airport (SCY) or Galapagos Islands' Seymour Airport (GPS) may request to change their connection point to Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) instead of GYE.
Individuals flying to or from GYE are advised to confirm their flight status prior to leaving for the airport and to contact their airline for further information.
