Environmental activists have called for a protest in Leeds on Wednesday, September 11, to oppose the expansion of Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA). Participants plan to gather at Civic Hall but organizers did not immediately announce a time.
Further environmental protests are scheduled to take place in Edinburgh and Glasgow on Friday, September 20, to bring attention to climate change. In Edinburgh, activists plan to meet at 11:00 (local time) at Middle Meadow Walk and then march to Parliament. Participants in Glasgow are to meet at 11:00 at Kelvingrove Park and then march to George Square. Several hundred people are expected to attend each protest. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected near all protest sites.
Individuals in the UK are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and demonstrations, prepare for associated disruptions to transportation and business, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
