KLM airlines canceled at least six flights at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) as of 07:50 (local time) on Wednesday, September 4, due to a strike by the airlines' ground staff. The European aviation authority, Eurocontrol, reported very high delays at AMS as of Wednesday morning. According to local media, ground staff are not loading checked baggage for flights. A similar strike carried out by KLM ground staff on Monday, September 2, led to the cancelation of approximately 62 flights and caused residual delays throughout the rest of the day.

Disruptions to flight operations at AMS, including delays and cancelations, are expected throughout Wednesday.

KLM ground staff at AMS previously staged a work stoppage on September 2. The strike follows failed negotiations over salaries and working conditions.

Individuals traveling to or from AMS are advised to monitor developments to the situation, confirm flight reservations prior to leaving for the airport, and to contact their airline for further information.
