Two Irish republican parades are scheduled to take place in Glasgow on Saturday, September 7, amid a heightened security presence. The first will take place from Millroad Street to La Pasionaria monument on Clyde Street beginning at 13:30 (local time).
Police indicated that a heightened security presence will be implemented due to disorder and clashes by rival groups on Friday, August 30, during an Irish Unity March. Associated transportation disruptions are also to be expected.
Individuals in Glasgow are advised to remain vigilant, report suspicious objects and behavior to the police, follow instructions issued by local authorities, and avoid all gatherings as a precaution.
