An Iraqi security official confirmed that four bomb blasts wounded at least 14 people in commercial districts in eastern, southern, central, and western Baghdad on Saturday, September 7. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks; however, the Islamic State (IS) group is known to carry out attacks in the capital and elsewhere with sleeper cells.
Similar attacks are possible in Baghdad over the near term.
Individuals in Baghdad are advised to monitor developments, avoid the affected areas, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
The security environment in Iraq remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to all travel.
