Public transport workers have reportedly held a protest in Beirut on the morning (local time) of Wednesday, September 25, against ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Careem. Bus drivers, along with taxi drivers, reportedly drove to the Ministry of Interior before heading to Uber's headquarters on Bechara al-Khoury avenue.

Public transport disruptions and an increased demand for alternative means of transport are expected in Beirut over the coming hours. Interruptions to taxi services are likely. A heightened security presence and associated disruptions are also expected in the vicinity of all protests.
