Security forces used tear gas to forcibly disperse a doctors' strike in Peshawar on Friday, September 27. At least 10 people were injured and 20 others arrested after violence erupted outside Lady Reading Hospital. The doctors were protesting against the privatization of government health facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A heightened security presence along with localized traffic disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any protest. Further protests are possible over the coming days and weeks and clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.
Individuals in Peshawar are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, anticipate a heightened security presence and transportation disruptions near protests, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
