Unions representing ground handling staff at Paris' Orly Airport (ORY) have called for a strike on Monday, October 7, to demand confirmation of their continued employment after Friday, November 1. Participants plan to begin the work stoppage at 03:00 (local time).
Though unclear as of 06:00 on Sunday, October 6, to what extent the strike is due to impact flight operations at ORY, delays are expected during the work stoppage.
World Flight Services (WFS) recently lost its biggest contract with Transavia, as well as being a subcontractor for Aigle Azur which was liquidated on September 27.
Potentially impacted travelers are advised to monitor developments to the situation, confirm flight reservations prior to leaving for the airport, contact the airline for more information, and anticipate cancelations and congestion on operating flights.
