Demonstrations are possible in Yerevan on Monday, October 7, due to former President Robert Kocharyan's scheduled hearing. The last hearing in the case is set to start at 13:00 (local time) at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction.
A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are anticipated around any protest. Clashes between security forces and protesters cannot be ruled out.
Former President Robert Kocharyan, who was arrested in December 2018, is facing charges of "overthrowing the constitutional order of Armenia" and bribery during his term as president. Kocharyan is also accused of being complicit in the deaths of 10 people during post-election demonstrations in 2008.
Individuals in Yerevan are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid protests and demonstrations, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
