The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) recorded 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolts in northern Pakistan on Monday, October 14. The earthquake occurred around 06:11 (local time) in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan, 33 km (20.5 mi) South of Jarm, at a depth of 157 km (97.5 mi).

There were no immediate reports of injuries. Aftershocks are possible in northern Pakistan over the coming hours and days.


Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor the situation and prepare for potential aftershocks.

In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g. under a table), move away from the windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is an immediate danger. If outdoors, move away from tall buildings, utility wires, and streetlights.
