Typhoon Bualoi is expected to impact the Northern Mariana Islands on Tuesday, October 22. Guam's National Weather Service has issued a Typhoon Warning for the islands of Saipan and Tinian, and a Tropical Storm Warning for Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan. On Sunday, October 20, the US government declared a federal emergency on the islands ahead of the typhoon's passage.
As of 01:00 (local time) on Tuesday, Bualoi is located at approximately 15.8°N, 146.3°E (map here) and is tracking northwest at 18 kph (11 mph). Bualoi is forecast to produce rainfall totals of 7-12 cm (3-5 in) on Saipan and Tinian in the coming hours.
Associated power outages and disruptions to transportation and business services are possible in areas forecast to be affected by the system over the coming days.
Individuals present in the abovementioned locations are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate transportation and power disruptions, reconfirm flights, obey instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. evacuation orders), and avoid flood-prone areas until the situation stabilizes. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
