Suspected militants threw a grenade at security forces in a market on Hari Singh Street in Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) at around 13:20 (local time) on Monday, November 4. According to local sources, one person was killed and 15 others were injured in the attack.

A heightened security presence has been reported in the vicinity of the incident, and the area has reportedly been cordoned off. Similar militant attacks are possible in Jammu and Kashmir over the near term.


Individuals in Jammu and Kashmir state are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, avoid public demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.

Some Western governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
