On Tuesday, November 5, a landslide triggered by heavy rain was reported near the Jalan Genting-Amber Court building, in the tourist area of Genting Highlands, at around 17:40 (local time), blocking traffic in the vicinity of the incident. The main road to Genting Highlands was, however, not been affected. Alternative roads have been opened for lightweight vehicles and pedestrians. No casualties were immediately reported.
Recovery efforts are ongoing and should be completed in the evening of Wednesday, November 6. At least 200 people were evacuated from the area.
Additional landslides and residual transportation disruptions are likely as rain is forecast to continue in the coming days.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate flooding and associated transportation disruptions (including road closures), and remember that walking or driving through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of moving water is enough to knock over an adult.
