The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) is planning to hold two demonstrations in Johannesburg on Thursday, November 7. A protest march will start at 10:00 (local time) at the Inners-Free Park Sandton and end at the Sandton Conventions Centre. Another rally is being organized at the Soweto Campus of the University of Johannesburg, also starting at 10:00. The SAFTU is calling for the government to address current unemployment issues and the worsening economic situation in the country.
A heightened police presence and localized traffic disruptions are expected along the march route and near the protest sites.
Individuals in Johannesburg are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests and public gatherings, anticipate transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
