Aviation workers throughout Italy are due to strike on Monday, November 25. Air traffic controllers plan to hold the work stoppage between 13:00 and 17:00 (local time), while other personnel from the aviation sector, including workers at Air Italy and Alitalia, plan to strike on Monday from 00:01 to 23:59. Alitalia has canceled approximately 200 domestic and international flights that were scheduled during the work stoppage. The airline said that affected customers can rebook their flights at no additional cost. British Airlines also announced on Sunday, November 24, that it had canceled some flights to or from Rome Fiumicino (FCO), Milan Malpensa (MXP), Venice Marco Polo(VCE), Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ), Pisa International (PSA), and Verona's Valerio Catullo (VRN) airports.

Significant delays, modified timetables, and further flight cancelations are expected during the strikes.

Transportation-related strikes are frequent in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all industrial and social actions.

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to monitor developments to the situation, confirm the status of their flights prior to departure, and to contact their airline for additional information.
