At least one person was reportedly killed in Goma (North Kivu) as of Tuesday, December 10, amid ongoing protests to denounce the increased insecurity in the city, after criminals assaulted and robbed local residents overnight on Tuesday. According to security forces, protesters have set fire to a police station and police forces have used tear gas and live ammunition to disperse the crowd.

A heightened security presence and localized disruptions have been reported, and are likely to persist over the coming hours.


Individuals in Goma are advised to remain vigilant for militant activity, monitor developments to the situation, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
