Several US airlines have announced flight disruptions due to Storm Isaiah that is expected to affect several central-eastern and north-eastern states on Friday, January 10, through Sunday, January 12. As of 21:00 (local time) on Friday, Isaiah is causing flight disruptions to airports in Texas and Missouri states. The storm is also expected to affect airports in Oklahoma state on Friday, in Georgia state on Saturday, January 11, and in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, Wisconsin, and Kansas states on Sunday. 

The National Weather Service warned that severe thunderstorms, with accompanying hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes, are expected in central and southern Arkansas, northeast Texas, northern Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, northwest Mississippi, and southwest Tennessee states beginning in the afternoon on Friday, and continuing overnight to Saturday. Storms are expected to shift southeast later on Saturday, affecting Georgia and Alabama states. Meteorologists have advised individuals in the aforementioned areas to turn on their smartphone weather notifications, as they may only have a short time to react to fast-moving storms.

The storm system is expected to bring significant snowfall to Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine states from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Freezing rain may affect parts of the lower Michigan peninsula and northern New York state, with accumulation of up to 2.5 cm (1 in).

Associated power outages, and disruptions to transportation and business services are anticipated in areas forecast to be affected by the storm system over the coming days.

Individuals in areas forecast to be affected by the storm are advised to monitor local weather reports, prepare for winter weather, anticipate transportation disruptions, including flight delays and cancelations and adverse driving conditions, and power outages, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
