Event

At least four people were injured following an explosion at a chemical plant in Tarragona (Catalonia) at approximately 18:40 (local time) on Tuesday, January 14. Firefighters have reportedly brought the large blaze that followed the explosion under control as of 20:30 on Tuesday night. Further details are still emerging.

Local officials have directed individuals in the area to lock themselves in a building, close all doors and windows, and avoid the immediate vicinity of the incident. A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions, including road closures, are to be expected in the area over the coming hours.
