Government representatives announced that several roads in Cape Town's CBD will be closed in the evening (local time) of Wednesday, February 12, and on Thursday, February 13, due to the annual State of the Nation address scheduled on February 13. A heightened security presence and other transportation disruptions, including route diversions, are expected throughout the city. Opposition protests and demonstrations are also anticipated.
