Event

National Rail officials warned of possible disruptions to train service as Storm Dennis is set to hit the UK from Saturday, February 15, through Sunday, February 16. Officials expect disruptions on journeys between London Euston, the West Midlands and Chiltern, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire, and Cumbria. Speed restrictions and amended services have been implemented for some lines. Further information can be found on the National Rail website.

Yellow warnings for strong wind and rain have been issued for the southern half of the country effective on Saturday while a yellow alert for rain will remain in place on Sunday for eastern England. Authorities said that the storm may also lead to power outages and disruptive waves in coastal areas.

The country was recently hit by Storm Ciara (Sabine), however meteorological authorities have stated that Storm Dennis should not be as disruptive as Ciara.

Related transportation disruptions to land, rail, air, and ferry services, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are therefore to be expected over the coming hours and days.

Advice

Individuals in areas forecast to be affected by the storm are advised to monitor local weather reports, prepare for transportation disruptions (including road closures and power outages), confirm travel itineraries, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
