Rocket sirens were reported in southern Israel on Sunday night (local time), February 23, following the killing of a suspected Palestinian militant who reportedly attempted to place an improvised explosive device (IED) near the border barrier on the Israeli-Gazan border on Sunday morning. Some 20 rockets were reportedly fired from the Gaza Strip after an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) bulldozer prevented Palestinians from retrieving the militant's body, with sirens reported in Ashkelon, Hof Ashkelon, Sufa, Kisufim, Zikim, Karmia, Gabim, Sderot, Nir Am, Ibim, Miflasim, Mavki'im, Nir Yitzhak, Netiv HaAsarah, Erez, Bat Hadar, and Kerem Shalom. The Eshkol Regional Council reported that multiple rockets fell in the area, but did not immediately report casualties or material damages.

Further cross-border fire is possible along the Israeli-Gazan border over the coming hours and days.
