Many groups are expected to march in Moscow on Saturday, February 29, to commemorate the murder of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, killed on February 27, 2015. Participants plan to gather at 10:30 (local time) at Strastnoy boulevard and later march towards the Academician Sakharov avenue. Additional protests are possible in other urban centers across Russia.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected along the march route.


Boris Nemstov was a prominent opposition politician and critic of Vladimir Putin. He was assassinated on February, 27, 2015 in Moscow. Five people were arrested and sentenced to prison for their involvement in the killing, though it is unknown who ordered the assassination.
