A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected in Baghdad over the coming hours. Retaliatory attacks on Iran-backed Shi'a militia groups are possible over the coming days.

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas of Iraq are advised to keep abreast of the situation, remain vigilant for militant activity, seek shelter in the event of further rocket attacks, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.

The security environment in Iraq remains complex. Although travel is possible in some areas with proper security protocols in place, other areas should be considered strictly off-limits. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to all travel.
